French President Emmanuel Macron pressed on with efforts Wednesday to end the crisis created by his failure to retain a parliamentary majority but with no solution in sight to an impasse that jeopardises his reform plans.
French far-right leader Marine Le Pen sailed through to parliamentary run-offs, winning over 55% of the votes in her constituency in northern France on Sunday (June 12). Le Pen, who lost to French President Emmanuel Macron in last April's presidential elections, will have to run in a runoff because of rules on minimum turnout. FRANCE 24's Alison Sargent reports.
