The United States announces an "emergency package of security assistance of $300 million" to Ukraine. "This is possible because of unanticipated costs savings in contracts that DOD negotiated to replace equipment we've already sent to Ukraine through previous drawdown," US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan tells reporters at the White House. Germany announces 1.3 billion euros more in military gear for Ukraine in its fight against Russia, including four further IRIS T-SLM air defence systems as well as artillery ammunition. US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin vows that Washington increasing military support for Israel following the Hamas attack will not drain aid away from Ukraine as it continues battling Russia. "The United States will remain able to project power and to direct resources to tackle crises in multiple theatres. So we will stand firmly with Israel as we continue to support Ukraine," states Lloyd Austin after a meeting of Ukraine's backers at NATO headquarters in Brussels. SOUNDBITE
