Images of the road between the towns of Shusha, retaken by Azerbaijani forces three years ago and Khankendi, called Stepanakert in Armenian. The road is largely abandoned and locals say it is still mined. The AFP team is reporting from the former breakaway region on a government press tour. IMAGES
Azerbaijani guards patrol the checkpoint at the entrance to the Lachin corridor which connects Armenia and the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. A sign indicates that one is entering Azerbaijan territory. Internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh, which broke away from Baku three decades, was at the centre of two wars between mostly Christian Armenia and predominantly Muslim Azerbaijan. Images filmed from Armenia show the border bridge into Nagorno-Karabakh a Russian peacekeeping camp and the only Armenian road leading into the disputed enclave, dubbed the Lachin Corridor. IMAGES
Armenian police and Russian peacekeepers can be seen on the closed road to Aghdam, the new border line between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides as Armenian separatists are handing over the district bordering Nagorno-Karabakh as part of a Russian-brokered peace deal to end weeks of fighting in the region. For three decades Azerbaijan's Aghdam district has been under the control of Armenian separatists. As part of the deal, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh must return the Aghdam, Kalbajar and Lachin districts to Azerbaijan starting on November 20, with a completion deadline of December 1. IMAGES
A small group of relatives of Hamas-held hostages gather at the Israel-Gaza border and call their names as loudspeakers hang from the cranes, with the 100th day of the war nears. During the October 7th attack, Hamas militants took around 250 hostages, 132 of whom Israel says remain in Gaza, including at least 25 believed to have been killed. IMAGES
