Residents of the Quebecois city of Pierrefonds resorted to kayaking their way through the flooded streets, Friday, as rivers continued to overflow in Quebec, flooding more than 170 towns and villages. The floods are the worst in more than five decades, pushing authorities to declare a state of emergency in 10 municipalities and causing damage to more than 3,000 private and public properties.

Insurers are facing some of the costliest British floods on record. Accountants have put the estimated bill at at least 1.5 billion pounds ($2.22 billion). And, as Sonia Legg reports, Britain isn't the only country dealing with floods.
