File images of the Latvian MEP Tatjana Zdanoka who has been accused by a press investigation of spying for Moscow over the past two decades. The European Parliament has announced that it has opened an investigation into the MEP. According to the Russian investigative website The Insider (based in Latvia), Tatjana Zdanoka, a non-attached MEP elected in 2004, is alleged to have collaborated with the Russian security services (FSB) from 2005. A vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaïli, has been arrested by Belgian police in connection with an investigation into corruption that implicates World Cup hosts, Qatar. Images show Kaili defending Qatar from criticism of its labour rights record and calls out Western hypocrisy. Speaking in front of the European Parliament in November, Kaili says "Qatar is a front-runner in labour rights, abolished Kefala, introducing minimum wage" and that "some here are calling to discriminate (against) them...but still, they take their gas, they have their companies profiting billions there." Abir Al-Sahlani, a Swedish member of the European Parliament, cuts her hair during a speech in Strasbourg to show solidarity with protesters in Iran. Protests have rocked Iran since 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini died on September 16 after her arrest by the morality police in Tehran for allegedly failing to observe the Islamic republic's strict dress code for women.
