Poland's President Andrzej Duda says Warsaw will continue to play the leading role in supporting Ukraine militarily, including sending much-needed tanks.
Members of the G7 reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine and the war of aggression it is fighting. All seven countries pledged to continue to support Kyiv financially and with arms, while continuing on the path of sanctions against Moscow.
Poland will send more tanks to Ukraine "in a few days", Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in Kyiv on Friday after Warsaw announced the despatch of four Leopard 2 tanks. "We were able to transfer our tanks very soon... also in a few days we are delivering very good PT-91 tanks -- 60 tanks will come to Ukraine," Morawiecki told reporters. Speaking outside the Royal Warsaw Castle, US President Joe Biden refutes the claims made by Russian President Putin that the West sought to harm Russia. "The United States and the nations of Europe do not seek to control or destroy Russia" he says, "the West was not plotting to attack Russia." Biden's comments come after a surprise visit to Kyiv earlier in the week, ahead of the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24. SOUNDBITE
