"Ressusciter la rose" (Resuscitating the rose) is an original musical tribute, a marriage of fashion, music and design, to celebrate the centenary of the Villa Noailles. This collection of Cubist-inspired buildings in the south of France was designed in the 1930s by architect Robert Mallet-Stevens. It was commissioned by an iconic couple: Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles. The villa quickly became the go-to meeting place for the French avant-garde. So what exactly is the couple's legacy? We take a closer look in this edition of Fashion.
Passionate about crafts, Tunis-based traditional potter Ali Arfaoui has been practising his art for 35 years from his workshop on Sidi Saber in the Medina of Tunis, an UNESCO world heritage. The craftsman hand-decorates everyday objects such as plates, pots and tableware in his workshop using traditional designs in eye-catching colours, which are mostly sold to tourists in the souk of the Medina. Arfaoui is specialised in painting the ceramics, yet he did not learn to trade, it was rather passed down to him by his brothers.
