At the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas between 5 and 8 January 2023, Volkswagen Group of America will showcase its first fully electric sedan based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). The ID.7 launch is planned for this year in Europe and China, and from 2024 in North America.The new electric drive has been optimised above all in terms of its energy consumption. Depending on the battery sizes, it is predicted that WLTP ranges of up to 700 kilometres and charging capacities of up to about 200 kW will be possible. The ID.7 therefore underlines its long-distance suitability for frequent drivers and fleet customers.The ID.7 is almost five metres long and was designed based on aerodynamic principles. Its roof slopes elegantly to the rear in coupé style and contributes to achieving an excellent drag coefficient of about 0.23 depending on the vehicle equipment. The long wheelbase and short overhangs create plenty of space in the vehicle interior for all occupants.
With a length of 4,962 mm and up to seven seats, the large ID. Buzz is perfectly primed for its launch in North America. At the same time, it is also expanding its range of possible applications in Europe. The extra length due to the increase in the wheelbase by 250 mm creates room for a third row of seats, providing up to 2,469 liters of storage space, and for a new, larger 85 kWh battery (net capacity), giving even more range. And the new heat pump increases efficiency in winter. The large ID. Buzz will also be available with a new 210 kW (286 hp) electric drive motor. This electric drive motor increases the maximum speed to the electronic limit of 160 km/h (European ID. Buzz with 150 kW: 145 km/h). The large ID. Buzz can reach a speed of 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. But that’s not all: an all-wheel drive version (GTX) with an output of 250 kW (339 hp) has been announced for 2024. The ID. Buzz GTX will be able to complete the 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.4 seconds, making it perfect for rapidly merging with traffic on the highway.
The Taos will offer three trim levels, each available with either front-wheel or 4Motion all-wheel-drive, all powered by an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive models are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while 4Motion models feature a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.Designed to slot into the heart of the booming compact SUV market, the Taos features a clean, youthful design tied closely to other Volkswagen SUVs. The standard LED light signature borrows cues from the Atlas Cross Sport, while on SEL models an illuminated LED light bar in the grille reflects the style of the ID.4 electric SUV. Four available wheel choices—from standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels to two 18-inch wheel options (machined or black finish) and 19-inch wheels—along with eight available colors offer owners a variety of ways to demonstrate their personal style.The Taos is 175.8 inches long—9.3 inches shorter than the Tiguan—with a wheelbase of 105.9 inches; it is 72.5 inches wide and 64.4 inches tall. Passenger space runs a roomy 99.5 cubic feet—just 1.6 cu. ft. less than the two-row Tiguan—with 28.1 cu. ft. of luggage space behind the second-row seats and 66.3 cu. ft. with the second row folded down. In addition to offering generous cargo space, the Taos offers a comfortable ride for all passengers, with 40.1 inches of legroom in the front and 37.9 in the rear.
Fresh design, higher-quality materials and the latest-generation assist systems: that is the new ID.3. Two and a half years after the launch of the first generation, the all-electric bestseller from Volkswagen is now coming to the market with a comprehensive upgrade. The ID.7 is the first electric model from Volkswagen for the upper mid-sized class. With a range of up to 700 kilometres (WLTP), the Volkswagen limousine is an efficiency champion. The wheels and tyres influence about 30 per cent, the underfloor 10 per cent, and the functional openings through which air flows to the radiators in the vehicle front end, for example, also 10 per cent.
