Clarence Thomas gifts scandal: US Senate panel to examine Supreme Court ethics

In the US, lawmakers are set to hold a hearing today on ethical concerns involving the Supreme Court. The meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee comes amid growing questions about the justices and their code of conduct. One justice, Clarence Thomas, has come under particular scrutiny for accepting lavish gifts, on multiple occasions, from a conservative billionaire friend including a house where the justice's mother still lives.
