In December 1922, BMW chief designer Max Friz puts the first full-scale BMW motorcycle on the drawing board. At its heart is an air-cooled two-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine. The first BMW motorcycle, the R 32, was presented in September 1923. This heralded the beginning of BMW motorcycle production and launched an unprecedented success story.To celebrate its 100-year history, BMW Motorrad is now presenting the two protagonists of the Heritage experience world - the R nineT Roadster and the R 18 Cruiser with big boxer - as 100 Years edition models. In keeping with the year in which BMW Motorrad was founded, both models are limited to 1923 units each.

The exclusive Top Marques showroom in Monaco (MC) has been the perfect setting to present Radikal Chopper's new customization project for the BMW R 18.The R 18 Magnifica was unveiled on June 8 during the premiere of the Monaco show: an extreme reinterpretation of the German maxi cruiser where luxury, craftsmanship and the nobility of the materials used come together in this unique and fascinating motorcycle. The development of this project commissioned by Officine Riunite Milanesi was entrusted to the genius and art of Andrea Radaelli from Radikal Chopper: a happy union that with this first joint project gave rise to Radikal Design.
With the new R 18 Transcontinental, BMW Motorrad is adding a Grand American Tourer to the R 18 family as well as the R 18 B ""Bagger"", which is particularly popular in the USA. As with the previous R 18 models, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B combine the thrilling power of the ""Big Boxer"" with a classic chassis concept based on historical models, exclusive equipment and a stylish design.This makes the R 18 Transcontinental ideal for travelling and long-distance rides in American riding style - both for riding solo and with a pillion and luggage. The R 18 B, on the other hand, is designed as a ""rider’s machine"" delivering emotional driving pleasure and ideal for cool touring and cruising.Special features of the new R 18 Transcontinental include:Front fairing with high wind shield, wind deflector and flaps. Cockpit with four analogue round instruments and 10.25 inch TFT colour display, additional headlamp, Marshall sound system, engine protection bars, cases, top case, seat heating, chrome trim and an engine in Silver metallic.
