Poverty rate in Argentina drops to 40.6% in first half of 2021

Buenos Aires, Sep 30 (EFE).- The poverty rate in Argentina stood at 40.6 percent in the first half of the year, a decrease of only 0.3 percent in over a year, while the number of people facing difficulties on a daily basis to meet their basic food necessities increased.According to a report released Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics and Census, the urban poverty rate recorded between January and June was 1.4 points below that of the second half of 2020.
