The US and European delegations on the UN Security Council condemn Belarus's behavior in the migrant crisis on its border with Poland. SOUNDBITE
World Athletics president Sebastian Coe lists sanctions applied to the Belarus Athletic Federation over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which "will take immediate effect and continue for the foreseeable future". SOUNDBITE
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the EU will impose a "new package of sanctions" on Belarus. SOUNDBITE
The US has expanded sanctions on Belarus along with Canada and European allies, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says at her briefing, "to hold the Lukashenko regime accountable for its ongoing attacks on democracy, human rights and international norms." SOUNDBITE
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visits a centre for the hundreds of migrants that remain in Belarus after attempting to cross into the EU via the Polish border. Thousands of migrants -- mainly Iraqi Kurds -- have spent months trying to get into the European Union from Belarus. The crisis escalated earlier this month with around 2,000 setting up a makeshift camp on the border in freezing conditions. IMAGES
