Flight controllers declare success in NASA mission to collect material from an asteroid 200 million miles from planet Earth using the Osiris-Rex spacecraft
A NASA probe called Lucy was launched into the sky to start a 12-year mission to explore asteroids, believed to be "fossils" of the early Solar System.
Gijon (Asturias), Sep 27 (EFE) .- (camera: Eloy Alonso) NASA started an observation mission Monday in Asturias of the asteroids of planet Jupiter from different parts of Spain to obtain information on the origin of organic matter in the solar system.
The SpaceX mission is hurtling at speeds up to 28,000 km/h in direction of the International Space Station, following its successful launch from from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Friday morning. SpaceX's international crew includes astronauts from the United States, Japan and France. Frenchman Thomas Pesquet will become the first European to command the ISS during a portion of the six-month mission, orbiting 400km above the Earth's surface.
The footage shows the Martian surface below, with the rover getting slowly closer to landing, and dust on the surface being disturbed before it finally touches down.
