Hundreds of people gather to pay their respects and lay flowers at the grave of opposition leader Alexei Navalny on the final day of a presidential election that is guaranteed to cement Vladimir Putin's hardline rule. Before his death in an Arctic prison last month, Navalny urged Russians to protest on March 17. The US State Department is "incredibly concerned" about reports that Russia arrested an American journalist, a US State Department spokesman tells reporters at a press briefing. "I want to say clearly and unequivocally in the strongest terms, we condemn the Kremlin's continued attempts to intimidate, repress and punish journalists and civil society voices," Vedant Patel adds.
