The Taos is powered by a 1.5-liter version of the EA211 turbocharged four-cylinder engine that currently powers the Jetta sedan. Making 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, the new engine offers a number of high-tech features designed to help produce outstanding fuel economy. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission in the front-wheel-drive model, while models with 4Motion all-wheel drive get a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Front-wheel drive models are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while 4Motion models feature a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.Designed to slot into the heart of the booming compact SUV market, the Taos features a clean, youthful design tied closely to other Volkswagen SUVs. The standard LED light signature borrows cues from the Atlas Cross Sport, while on SEL models an illuminated LED light bar in the grille reflects the style of the ID.4 electric SUV. Four available wheel choices—from standard 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels to two 18-inch wheel options (machined or black finish) and 19-inch wheels—along with eight available colors offer owners a variety of ways to demonstrate their personal style.The Taos is 175.8 inches long—9.3 inches shorter than the Tiguan—with a wheelbase of 105.9 inches; it is 72.5 inches wide and 64.4 inches tall. Passenger space runs a roomy 99.5 cubic feet—just 1.6 cu. ft. less than the two-row Tiguan—with 28.1 cu. ft. of luggage space behind the second-row seats and 66.3 cu. ft. with the second row folded down. In addition to offering generous cargo space, the Taos offers a comfortable ride for all passengers, with 40.1 inches of legroom in the front and 37.9 in the rear.
The Jetta has defined affordable German engineering for more than four decades, spending more than three of them as Volkswagen’s best-selling model. In 2022, the torchbearer is refreshed, with new technology and styling elevating both the value-oriented Jetta and the sporty Jetta GLI.Among the most important updates to the 2022 Jetta is the adoption of the 1.5-liter turbocharged and direct-injection EA211 engine found in the recently launched Taos compact SUV. Offering an ideal combination of low-speed torque and competitive fuel economy, the EA211 is mated to a six-speed manual or a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Jetta GLI is powered by Volkswagen’s EA888 turbocharged direct-injection 2.0-liter engine, which produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission is optional.The refreshed Jetta and GLI models get a style update with new front and rear bumpers, new colors and new wheels. In the front, standard LED headlights frame a redesigned grille. New available exterior colors and unique wheels on each trim level also up the visual ante.
The new Golf R, which has been on the market since the start of the year, outperforms all previous Golf R models, boasting 235 kW / 320 PS and a torque of 420 newton metres. To make sure that the power is brought to the road as effectively as possible, Volkswagen’s engineers have developed a new 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring on the rear axle.
