A solemn ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States is under way in New York under tight security. A marching band launches the start of the service at Ground Zero, where Al-Qaeda hijackers slammed jetliners into the World Trade Center killing almost 3,000 people, shortly after 8:40 am (1240 GMT).
