The Porsche GT Team was rewarded for a strong performance with a place on the podium at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Under difficult conditions on the Daytona International Speedway, the two Porsche 911 RSR racers achieved positions three and five. The sports cars from Weissach had clearly dominated the first half of the long-distance classic. His French teammates Patrick Pilet and Frédéric Makowiecki retained the top spot into the night. Torrential rain early on Sunday morning proved to be a watershed moment in a perfect race. With deep water on the track, the 911 of the polesitter fell back into fifth place.
On November 27th, the eighth generation of the Porsche 911 will celebrate its world premiere in Los Angeles - 55 years after the debut of the original 911 model.This is a good reason to take a look back at the previous seven generations. Porsche works driver Neel Jani lapped the 7.004 kilometre long Belgian Grand Prix Circuit in the Ardennes mountains in 1:41.770 minutes. The 34 year old Swiss has beaten the previous record by 0.783 seconds that was set by Lewis Hamilton (GB) at the wheel of a Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid. Hamilton’s lap of 1:42.553 minutes dates back to August 26 in 2017 and secured him pole position for last year’s F1 race. Jani achieved a top speed of 359 km/h and an average speed of 245.61 km/h on his record lap that he started at 10:23 hrs. Ambient temperature was 11° Celsius, track temperature was 13° Celsius.

The 700hp slumbering within its 3.2-litre horizontally opposed engine catapult the driver from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds.#1 Porsche 918 Spyder. In the lead, however, is another record-holder. The 918 Spyder shows just what its combined hybrid power of 887hp can achieve. With an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in only 2.6 seconds, it’s no surprise that the 918 Spyder wins this Top 5 ranking.
