Queen Elizabeth II's second son, Prince Andrew, was effectively stripped of his position in royal life, in a dramatic move as he faces a US civil case for sexual assault. The move came after Buckingham Palace announced that he had given up his honorary military titles and charitable roles as the US case looms.
Britain's Prince Andrew has renounced his military affiliations and royal patronages, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday.
Andrew has denied Giuffre's accusations that he forced her to have sex more than two decades ago at the London home of former Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and abused her at two other Epstein properties.
The prince’s lawyers say that a 2009 deal Virginia Giuffre struck with financier Jeffrey Epstein should prevent her from suing Andrew now, even though he wasn’t a party to it.
