Police officers and civilians ran for cover as sniper fire rained down around the Dallas city center on Thursday. Police announced that a fifth officer had died after being fatally shot by so-far unidentified assailants. Sniper rounds ripped through the Dallas night during a protest against the recent fatal police killings of African Americans Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile. The assailants were apparently targeting police - 11 officers were shot, 5 fatally.

US Central Command commander General Kenneth McKenzie admits the United States made a "mistake" when it launched a drone strike against suspected Islamic State militants in the Afghan capital Kabul on August 29, confirming that it killed 10 civilians instead. Beit Hanun (Gaza), May 14 (EFE / EPA) .- (Camera: Mohammed Saber) Israeli airstrikes destroyed the homes of hundreds of Palestinians in the city of Beit Hanun, in response to days of violent clashes between the forces of Israeli and Palestinian security in Jerusalem. The Gaza Strip's Health Ministry said at least 100 Palestinians, including 13 children, were killed in recent retaliatory Israeli airstrikes.
