Sweden's parliament elects Magdalena Andersson as the country's prime minister, the first woman to hold the post, five days after her first bid lasted only hours. Last week Andersson was elected by parliament, but she had to resign after the Green Party quit her coalition government - before she even had a chance to formally take office.

Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson says Sweden "should join NATO" as she questions whether the Nordic country's longstanding policy of military non-alignment remains appropriate with Russia's invasion of Ukraine "undermining the European security order that Sweden builds its security on." SOUNDBITE
Andersson was voted in by Sweden’s parliament as prime minister last week, but resigned seven hours later after the defeat of her budget and the departure of a junior coalition party.
