Its predecessor - the first ever Sports Activity Coupe at the premium end of the mid-size class - broke new ground and now the all-new BMW X4 is writing the next chapter in this story of success. Its vehicle concept, which fuses the hallmark features of a BMW X model with the sporting elegance of a coupe, has also proved an instant hit in this class. Approximately 200,000 units of the first-generation X4 have been sold around the world since the original model was launched in 2014. The all-new BMW X4 underscores its individual character with significantly enhanced driving dynamics, standout exterior design accentuating the car's sporting instincts, a further refined premium ambience in the interior, state-of-the-art driver assistance systems and leading-edge connectivity technologies. Added to which, the dynamic and extravagant aura of the Sports Activity Coupe is further highlighted by the addition of two BMW M Performance models to the line-up: the all-new BMW X4 M40i and all-new BMW X4 M40d. The exterior design of the all-new BMW X4 is a case study in muscular dynamics and commanding presence. Clean surfacing and high-class, modern accents headline this updated interpretation of the unmistakable X4 aesthetic. The X4 assumes the role of eye-catching athlete in the BMW X model family.
Auto China 2018 hosted the Asian premiere of the new BMW X4. The second generation of the premium mid-size Sports Activity Coupe captures the imagination with a significantly more individual design and also makes undeniable gains in terms of sporting prowess and premium ambience. Cutting-edge driver assistance systems and the latest functions from BMW ConnectedDrive further increase the levels of driving pleasure.
The in-line 6-cylinder engine in the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition now features the forged lightweight crankshaft of the BMW M3 and M4 models. Its extremely torsion-resistant design enables transmission of the particularly high torque, while its low weight and reduced rotating masses also benefit the engine’s revving power. The in-line 6-cylinder engine’s racetrack-proven cooling system is designed to enable an exceptionally high level of output and includes two laterally positioned radiators in addition to the central one. There is also an additional engine oil cooler and a separate transmission oil cooler. BMW M GmbH motor racing expertise is also evident in the design of the oil supply system, which is geared towards dynamic racetrack operation. The engine’s weight-optimised oil pan has two separate chambers and an integrated suction channel. An additional suction stage enables the map-controlled oil pump to deliver lubricant from the smaller oil sump, which serves as a volume buffer. In this way, a reliable oil supply is guaranteed at all times, even during extreme longitudinal and lateral acceleration.
The BMW iX5 Hydrogen developed on the basis of the current BMW X5 was first unveiled as a concept at the IAA show in 2019. Initial prototypes were then made available at the IAA Mobility 2021 for visitors to experience in action as shuttle vehicles.Its hydrogen fuel cell system is further proof of the BMW Group’s leading development expertise in the field of electric drive technologies. The name “Dee” stands for Digital Emotional Experience – and that is precisely its aim: to create an even stronger bond between people and their cars going forward. Future digital functions will go far beyond the level of voice control and driver assistance systems we are familiar with today. The BMW Head-Up-Display extends across the full width of the windscreen, providing a glimpse of the next vehicle generation. From 2025 onwards, this innovation will be available in the models of the NEUE KLASSE. The BMW Group has also refined its use of colour-change technology. Having unveiled the BMW iX Flow Featuring E Ink, with the ability to change from black to white, at the last CES, BMW i Vision Dee can now curate its exterior in up to 32 colours.
