Nicaragua switches diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to China

Nicaragua switched diplomatic allegiance from Taiwan to China on Thursday, meaning just 14 nations now recognize the democratic island that Beijing has vowed to one day seize. "The People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, said Nicaragua's Foreign Affairs Minister Denis Moncada Colindres.
