Brussels, Oct 15 (EFE) .- When Zarifa Ghafari took office at the age of 26 as mayor of the city of Maidan Sahar, on the outskirts of Kabul, she was ready to face the many challenges that accompany this position. The taking of the Afghan capital by the Taliban in August forced her to flee to Europe, from where she now denounces that her country has been "abandoned" and "sold to her enemies".In an interview with Efe, Ghafari (1992) says that fleeing her country two months ago was never her first option.
