Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces erupt along the Gaza Strip's border with Israel ahead of the controversial inauguration of the new US embassy in Jerusalem. IMAGES
The weekly Saturday protests in support of Palestinians returns to the streets of London, with police estimating around 15,000-20,000 in attendance. This comes a day after a US veto blocked a UN Security Council call for a ceasefire. Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 hostages -- 138 of whom remain in Gaza, Israeli officials say. In response, Israel vowed to destroy Hamas and launched a military offensive in Gaza that has killed at least 17,490 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. Several thousand protesters march to the Israeli embassy in Athens in solidarity with the Palestinian people, with many protesters chanting "Free Palestine" whilst calling for immediate ceasefire in the deadly war between Israel and Hamas. Since Hamas militants stormed across the Israeli border on October 7, Israel has relentlessly bombarded the Gaza Strip and sent in ground troops, with the health ministry in the Hamas-run Palestinian territory saying 9,770 people have been killed, nearly half of them -- at least 4,800 -- children. Thousands gather in Berlin to take part in a "Free Palestine" protest and to call for an end of the conflict in Gaza. The demonstration in Alexanderplatz is Berlin's biggest pro-Palestinian gathering since the start of the latest Israel-Hamas war. IMAGES
"We've won": a demonstrator shouts after a Paris court suspends a ban that had been put on the protest in Place de la Republique in central Paris.
