Shear Fun! Alpacas Get Styled as Dinosaurs, Lions and Poodles for Summer

Description

Alpacas are very funny animals, and get very hairy. Their thick coats must be fleeced every year before the summer begins to keep the animals properly ventilated. That time of year rolled around again for farmer Helen Kendall Smith, but this year, she decided to do something out of the ordinary for her ten adorable alpacas. Each one of her alpacas received a funny extreme makeover for the summer to celebrate her tenth year of breeding the animals on her farm in Cirencester. The procedure has to be done every year before the summer and Helen hires a professional alpaca shearer (yes, those exist) to get the job done. She worked with her shearer to do up her alpacas like dinosaurs, poodles, zebras and lions, among other things. You might be wondering what they did with all that fleece? Alpaca fiber is actually in high demand for weaving rugs, blankets and jackets due to the durability and warmth of the material. Seems like a win-win for everyone!
