This 12-Year-Old Acrobat Hopes to Roll His Way to Guinness World Record

Yousef al-Bahtini, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy, has got the unique gift of contortionism. Bending his body to extremes can make others cringe or drop their jaws in bewilderment, but Yousef is already figuring out ways to make a future with his talent. He is working on improving his rolling speed ahead of a time trial attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to travel 20 metres, or 65 feet, in a contortion roll.

  • Škoda Enyaq RS iV sets two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles with 7.351 km ice drift

    Škoda has set two official world ice drift records with the Enyaq RS iV SUV, the brand’s second all-electric sporting model. The records for the ’Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice’ and the ‘Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice (electric car)’, have been verified by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS. They were set by motoring journalist Richard Meaden on a circular track measuring 188.496 m in circumference on the frozen Stortjärnen lake near Östersund, Sweden, on Thursday 19 January 2023.The first record broken by Škoda on the Stortjärnen lake was for the Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice. Driving the recently launched Škoda Enyaq RS iV SUV, Richard Meaden set a new officially-verified record by holding the car in a controlled slide for more than 15 minutes and 7.351 km. Meaden’s drift beat the previous record of 6.231 km, set in China in 2022. In breaking the first record, Meaden and the Škoda Enyaq RS iV SUV set a second record for the ‘Longest Continuous Vehicle Drift on Ice (electric car)’.With a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator present and international drifting judge David Kalas as a witness, Škoda set the record on the brand’s fourth day on location following numerous practice runs with different tyre combinations. A total of 18 hours of drifting were put in across the full five days in sub-zero temperatures to achieve the perfect drift.

    With 707 cars, the MX-5 Rally of Records, held on September 18th 2022, at the Modena Circuit, broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for largest parade of Mazda cars in the world. It beats the Dutch record set in 2013, which, with 683 cars, had held the record for almost a decade.The parade brought together all four generations of the iconic MX-5. It winded its way around the famous circuit under the watchful eye of the Guinness World Records adjudicator, who at 6pm made the record official to the delight of thousands of MX-5 fans from all over Italy and Europe. The unique rally gave the team at Mazda Italy the chance to rewrite an important chapter in the history of the world’s best-selling roadster.During the record-breaking event, the public had the chance to take part in many other Mazda activities, like the 'Fun to drive will never die' presentation, with the Japanese engineer Nobuhiro Yamamoto, programme manager of the third and fourth generation of the Mazda MX-5, Elisa Artioli, car enthusiast and granddaughter of Romano Artioli, the former patron of Lotus, and Andrea Levy, president MI.Mo Milano Monza Motor Show. The speakers presented different stories to explain what triggers their passion for the car and the driving pleasure, known in Mazda as "Jinba Ittai", which is the intuitive connection between a Mazda and its driver.
