It reflects a new era for motoring: the ID. Buzz. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has already begun sales in Europe and the first vehicles will be supplied to their owners this autumn. There are two versions: the ID. Buzz as an MPV and the ID Buzz Cargo as a van. Both all-electric. On board, an open space with lots of room for life, work and travel. Range of up to 425 km, recharged at a fast-charging point in around 30 minutes. The ID. Buzz – an avant-garde vehicle for families, active people and businesses. Even as a concept vehicle, it was already electrifying. Now, the production version of the ID. Buzz is coming to our streets.The attributes of a multi-tool fuse in the ID. Buzz with one of the most successful designs ever. The style is iconically clear and just as powerful as it is friendly. The tight overhangs of the aerodynamic body (cd 0.29) correspond visually with the agile drive characteristics. The 150 kW (204 PS) electric motor makes its maximum torque of 310 Nm immediately available. The result is a very spontaneous response. Thanks to the rear-wheel drive (as in the original T1 Bulli), the steering is also free of any influence from the drive system. The 77-kWh battery (net energy capacity) integrated deep within the vehicle floor lowers the centre of gravity and despite the elevated body reduces roll to a minimum. The weight is spread centrally within the vehicle, thus ensuring neutral handling. By virtue of the large wheel arches, the turning circle is small, just 11.1 metres. All of this makes the ID. Buzz the ideal vehicle for city centres too.

With a length of 4,962 mm and up to seven seats, the large ID. Buzz is perfectly primed for its launch in North America. At the same time, it is also expanding its range of possible applications in Europe. The extra length due to the increase in the wheelbase by 250 mm creates room for a third row of seats, providing up to 2,469 liters of storage space, and for a new, larger 85 kWh battery (net capacity), giving even more range. And the new heat pump increases efficiency in winter. The large ID. Buzz will also be available with a new 210 kW (286 hp) electric drive motor. This electric drive motor increases the maximum speed to the electronic limit of 160 km/h (European ID. Buzz with 150 kW: 145 km/h). The large ID. Buzz can reach a speed of 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. But that’s not all: an all-wheel drive version (GTX) with an output of 250 kW (339 hp) has been announced for 2024. The ID. Buzz GTX will be able to complete the 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.4 seconds, making it perfect for rapidly merging with traffic on the highway.

XTREME concept vehicle demonstrates the enormous performance capacity and extraordinary versatility of Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB). A performance drive on the rear axle and software adjustments to the control unit give the ID. XTREME impressive off-road capabilities. The fully electric all-wheel drive develops a system power of 285 kW/387 PS. This corresponds to a performance increase of around 30 percent compared to the gene donor ID.4 GTX.Take an Xtra portion of passion, an Xtra pinch of enthusiasm and a test vehicle that is no longer needed in series development after successful trials. The Xtravagant things that can come out of this are impressively demonstrated by the ID. XTREME off-road concept car.“The all-electric concept vehicle with all-wheel drive is based on the ID.4 GTX and convincingly demonstrates the high technical potential of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB),” explains Andreas Reckewerth, Head of MEB Complete Vehicle. “The impressive electric power and the chassis with off-road capability are guarantees for extremely emotive driving experiences both on the road and on off-road terrain. In order to achieve this, the ID. XTREME combines the strengths of a modern SUV with the adventurous spirit and 4x4 capabilities of a robust off-roader.” The concept vehicle was designed and built in Volkswagen’s Engineering department in the team led by Andreas Reckewerth.
