Japanese police have raided the home of the man accused of killing at least 19 patients at a home for the disabled. Paul Chapman reports.
A heavy police presence lingers outside the home of Scotland's former first minister Nicola Sturgeon, as Scotland's ruling party faced fresh turmoil following her husband's arrest as part of a police investigation into financial irregularities. Peter Murrell, 58, was chief executive of the Scottish National Party (SNP) for nearly 25 years until he quit last month. In a statement, Police Scotland said they had taken a 58-year-old man into custody for questioning over "the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party." Rescue and police are on site after several people were wounded in a knife attack on a high-speed train in Germany's Bavaria, local police said, adding that the alleged perpetrator had been arrested. The suspect's motive for the attack on the 300-passenger train bound from Regensburg to Hamburg is not yet clear. IMAGES
Police work in Kentish Town, northwest London, outside the home of the suspect held on suspicion of fatally stabbing the British lawmaker David Amess. Catalan police raided FC Barcelona's main office in Camp Nou and carried out several arrests. Spain's Cadena Ser radio said one of those arrested was former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who resigned in October, along with CEO Oscar Grau and the club's head of legal services.
