La statue du général Robert Lee à Charlottesville a été recouverte d'une bâche noire afin de rendre hommage à une manifestante anti-raciste décédée le 12 août dernier. Heather Heyer avait 32 ans lorsqu'elle a été tuée lors d'un rassemblement de l'extrême droite. Le choix de cette statue n'est pas anodin puisque le général Lee est une figure emblématique pour les suprémacistes. Il avait combattu pendant la guerre de Sécession, en menant les troupes des Etats esclavagistes.
