  • Not Just True Grit: The Three Things People Do To Achieve Financial Independence

Achieving financial independence means building enough wealth that you don't ever have to work again. Whee! Of course, getting to financial independence, or FI, requires resilience and perseverance. However, there's more to escaping the rat race than that. According to Business Insider, author Sarah Stanley Fallaw says most millionaires follow a similar path. And she bases her conclusions not on hunches, but on her interviews with over 600 millionaires from all walks of life. • Till Debt Do Us Part? How To Deal With Marrying Into Heavy Financial Baggage

Financial consultant Alli Williams was just 29 when she took on $154,000 of her husband's debt when they got hitched. Since then, they've paid off $50,000 of the debt, including an auto loan, some student loans, and a credit card. Not only that, but they also paid for a wedding, college tuition, and have saved for a baby and a house. According to Business Insider, Williams believes in prioritizing expenses, such as bonding activities and savings goals, but not in harsh deprivation. On a practical level, every paycheck is divvied up between bills, savings, and debt repayment. As for windfalls such as gifts, bonuses, or tax refunds, Williams sets allocation percentages without knowing the amount. For example, 50% will usually go toward debt, another 20% towards savings, and so on. When the money hits the bank account, she doesn't have to dither!

The pair have been married for ten years, but Norway has become stricter on ties to China and Russia in recent years. Norway's intelligence service says the two countries are trying to find out information about Norway's petroleum industry.

  • When An 'I Do' Also Means 'We Won't' For Personal Finance

These days, it's generally assumed that with young, newlywed couples, both spouses will continue to work--at least until children come along. But according to Business Insider, some couples are questioning the received wisdom of combining finances as soon as the wedding cake has been cut. For one thing, couples may have different savings goals, and different levels of debt. Being in charge of your own debt only keeps you in control, and also stops you from feeling resentful if your partner runs up his or her own credit card. Remember, not merging finances doesn't mean you can't save for joint goals, such as a house. It does mean you can save at your own pace, in your own way.
