Description

On Tuesday, leaders of the United States and Saudi Arabia spoke as a growing number of countries move to sever ties with Qatar over the nation's alleged ties to terror networks. President Donald Trump spoke with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud on the importance of regional cooperation in preventing the financing of terrorism and "eliminating the promotion of extremism by any nation in the region." According to a readout of the conversation released by the White House, "the President underscored that a united Gulf Cooperation Council is critical to defeating terrorism and promoting regional stability." • Trump Delivers Israeli-Moroccan 'Abraham' Accord--But At What Cost?

Morocco is now the fourth Arab state this year to announce it would establish relations with Israel. According to CNN, it was another diplomatic win for the Trump administration. However, it may create some trouble for the incoming Biden administration. That's because the Trump administration agreed that the US would recognize the long-disputed Western Sahara region. The largely Sahrawi population has fought for self-determination for four decades under the banner of the Polisario Front.
