Madeira airport was renamed in honour of Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, at the ceremony, on his home island of Madeira, Wednesday, together with the unveiling of a bust of the footballer. Ronaldo expressed words of thanks, stating, "I say that these tributes should be made while the honoured people are alive, like in my case. And for that I thank the regional government President, for having the courage to stand up for his idea." Both the Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa and President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa were in attendance. Football fans have taken to social media mocking the bust of the footballer questioning its likeness.
Portugal vs Wales or Ronaldo vs Bale? Wednesday's Euro semifinals is perhaps the most one-man-team standoff of all games played so far. The Real Madrid stars have lead their teams to the gates of the Euro final. But who will prevail?
Welsh striker Gareth Bale said that his team was ready to 'make history', speaking at a press conference in Denard on Monday, ahead of the team's Euro 2016 semi-final against Portugal.
French striker Olivier Giroud, gave a press conference at the team's base in Clairefontaine outside Paris, Monday, following Sunday's quarter-final victory over Iceland.
Top footballers are used to luxurious living and their basecamps for the Euro 2016 are no exception.
