But on Tuesday, Trump phoned in to 'Fox and Friends' to say he wants a stimulus program even larger than the Democrats' proposed $2.2 trillion package.
Business Insider reports that the Supreme Court will allow Pennsylvania to count mail-in ballots received up to three days after Election Day. According to the New York Times, this is a win for Pennsylvania Democrats, who requested over a million more absentee ballots, than registered Republicans. The ruling lacked a GOP majority to side with an attempt to block the measure, which would have sent the decision back to the state Supreme Court. The split ruling shows how big of a role Amy Coney Barrett could have in major decisions like the Presidential election. The federal judge is expected to be confirmed to the Supreme Court next week. Pennsylvania ballots that are mailed on or before Election Day, will now be counted, even if their postmarks are missing or illegible. Pennsylvania is one of three swing states, that includes Michigan and Wisconsin.
Amy Coney Barrett has a history of supporting anti-choice groups. These groups believe in fetal personhood, according to Business Insider. Legislation that recognizes embryos as legal persons would complicate standard procedures involved in IVF. This includes freezing embryos, performing genetic testing, and discarding unused embryos. This could create new criminality if personhood bills were to be passed. If Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed, the implications for reproductive rights will extend far beyond birth control.
The New Yorker magazine has suspended staff writer Jeffrey Toobin for exposing himself while on a Zoom call. According to Business Insider, Toobin's ménage à moi reportedly took place before members of the New Yorker and WNYC radio. Witnesses say Toobin appeared to take another call at one point and lowered his camera to reveal himself engaging in hand-to-gland combat. I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video. Jeffrey Toobin Toobin is also the chief legal analyst at CNN. However, on Monday, the network announced he was taking a hiatus to deal with 'a personal matter.'
