Having grudgingly green-lit the peaceful transfer of power, President Donald Trump is now perfectly poised to proceed with a parade of pardons. Trump has already commuted the sentence of his informal adviser Roger Stone. But what about Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who is still in home confinement serving out his prison sentence? Even more to the point, what about Trump himself? Trump has repeatedly asked aides about pardons for himself and his family members--and whether he could issue them preemptively. CNN reports the question of self-pardoning may be moot. If Trump faces any criminal charges, they'll be at the state level, not federal. US Presidents are not immune from any state charges.
Almost two years after the hazing death of 19-year-old freshman Chun Hsien Deng, five Pi Delta Psi fraternity members were charged of criminal homicide and involuntary manslaughter and could now face up to 20 years in prison, the New York Times reported.
Images show Evan Gershkovich leaving court after his detention was extended by two months. Gershkovich, an American Wall Street Journal reporter is being held in Moscow on espionage charges which he denies. The court hearing was attended by representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Russia. A group of 16 foreign nationals from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus go on trial in a Polish court on charges of espionage, preparing acts of sabotage and gathering information for Russia. The defendants include a Russian hockey player who played in the Polish league. The verdict for 14 of the 16 defendants who plead guilty is expected later today. IMAGES
