Sana'a, Aug 19 (EFE/EPA).- Pro-Houthi Shiite Muslims on Wednesday took to the streets of the Yemeni capital Sana'a to commemorate the Muslim holy day of Ashura, which is observed by all Muslims but has a special significance for Shia.Ashura is believed to be the day that Moses - considered an important prophet in Islam - led the Jews to safety by parting the Red Sea; importantly, Ashura is also the same day the Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Hussein, was killed in battle in AD 680, making the day a solemn occasion for Shia worldwide, who deeply revere Hussein.Ashura is the peak of ten days of mourning when Shiite Muslims mourn the killing of Imam Hussein whose shrine is located in Karbala in southern Iraq.
