A record-breaking US astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts reach earth, with tensions between Moscow and the West soaring over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russia's space agency Roscosmos said. The International Space Station (ISS) Expedition 53-54 crew held a pre-flight press conference at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on Wednesday. The three crew members, NASA astronauts Joe Acaba, Mark Vande Hei and cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin, will launch to the space station aboard the Soyuz MS-06 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, September 13 in 2017.
On December 15th astronaut Tim Peake will head into space on-board the Soyuz rocket from Kazakhstan. While it only takes 8 minutes and 48 seconds to get into space, it took years of training to prepare for the trip.
