Police in Bangladesh kill nine militants from a local group affiliated with Islamic State. The men were believed to have been plotting an attack similar to the July 1 cafe assault in which 22 people died.
The third attack by Al Shabaab in 2016 in Somalia, this time in the capital Mogadishu, has killed at least 3 police officers and injured eight others. Reportedly the Islamic militants exploded a car bomb in a suicide attack against a traffic police headquarters.
