Washington DC, June 9 (EFE).- It was erected in a matter of hours, in the heat of the demonstrations that shook the United States following the death of George Floyd, but on Tuesday the fence that President Donald Trump put between himself and the protesters outside the White House has become a symbol against racial violence and for union amid diversity.Pieces of cloth and paper with calls to respect life, to reject racism, to promote equality and to stamp out white supremacy cover the fence that kept at bay hundreds of protesters who shouted at Trump for several nights after the death of Floyd at the hands of a white police officer. This is Douglas Hughes, a political activist that landed a gyrocopter in front of the US Capitol building on April 15, 2015 in protest against corruption in politics. The gyrocopter was carrying 535 letters addressed to every member of Congress. Hughes was immediately arrested. He recounted his experience for Ruptly. Douglas' stunt was an attempt to draw attention to the lack of regulation on donation from companies and private donors to US political parties. The former postman said that he had no regrets.
White House security plans proposed by the Secret Service include a 14-foot barrier nearly twice the height of the current fence.
