Finally: We know the exact date of availability for Microsoft's upcoming operating system, Windows 10. The new OS will become available on July 29, Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Operating Systems Terry Myerson wrote in a blog post Monday. On that date, buyers will be able to get Windows 10 with a new PC, or upgrade from an old version for free.
After seeing warnings about it for over a year, Windows 10 users are now being told to ditch Adobe Flash once and for all. The multimedia software platform powered many pre-YouTube animated videos like Homestar Runner. But now, Gizmodo reports Adobe Flash is officially ancient technology. As of December 31, 2020, Adobe stopped supporting the software. Updating Windows 10 will only remove the Adobe Flash Player that was installed by your version of Windows—not if you installed it manually from elsewhere. Once the update is applied, Adobe Flash will be removed from the Control Panel. Windows 10 users will not be able to roll back the update. Users can also uninstall Flash via Adobe’s website.

Google is buying a team of engineers from HTC’s smartphone division… for 1.1 billion dollars. Google isn’t buying a direct stake in HTC. It instead will have licensing rights to HTC’s intellectual property. The billion-dollar deal doesn’t mean the end of HTC’s smartphone business, but analysts predict its days are numbered. With 1.1 billion dollars in hand HTC is expected to concentrate on next generation tech, including developing its VR business. There’s also a high chance HTC will form closer ties with Google in the development of AR and VR applications.
