Food inspectors file case against Nestle

Description

Food safety inspectors in Uttar Pradesh have filed a criminal complaint against Nestle's Indian arm, after spot checks earlier this year found excess lead in some packets of Maggi instant noodles. As Hayley Platt reports the complaint also extends to Nestle managers and a Bollywood hires to promote the 2-minute snack.

  • Nestle Issues Massive Hot Pocket Recall

    Nestlé Prepared Foods recalled over 760,000 Hot Pocket that might contain bits of glass and plastic. Four people complained to Nestlé of "extraneous material" in their Hot Pockets. The frozen, not-ready-to-eat products were shipped nationwide in November 2020. Business Insider reports they were produced from Nov. 13 through Nov. 16. They have lot codes of 0318544624, 0319544614, 0320544614 and 0321544614. They have a a "best before" date of February 2022. he boxes also have the establishment number "EST. 7721A" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

    16 states across the US broke a grim record on Friday, reporting their highest total of people hospitalized for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Business Insider reports that since last fall, cases of COVID-19 have surged nationwide, particularly following the end of the holiday season. Alabama, Arkansas, Maryland, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia were hit hardest. Record hospitalizations were also seen this week in Arizona, California, Delaware, and Maine. The US Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for two COVID-19 vaccines at the end of 2020. However, a slow rollout means it will be many months before all who want a vaccination are immunized.
