A prototype electric car made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic was tested at the Japan Cycle Sports Centre, Shuzenji, Shizuoka Prefecture. Around 85 per cent of the car parts reportedly consists of polymers or plastics by volume, which makes the car ultra-light.
A 16-year-old boy fell into a sinkhole near Redwood Falls, some 160km (100miles) from Minneapolis, in Minnesota. The boy was forced to smash the rear window in order to escape, although he did not suffer any major injuries. The sinkhole reportedly formed following heavy rain in the Renville County area.
One Russian driver captured a helicopter on film flying mere yards above the Rostov-Baku highway, near Gudermes in Russia's Chechen Republic, earlier in May on his car's dashcam. The chopper flew just several feet above a barrier dividing the highway lanes as cars and other vehicles whizzed past.
