An 11-year-old boy has been charged in juvenile court after shooting his neighbor, an 8-year-old girl, over a puppy Saturday night. WATE-TV reports that 8-year-old Makayla Dyer, a 3rd grader, had been playing with friends near her home in White Pine, Tennessee when the incident happened. Her 11-year-old neighbor, a 5th grader who went to the same school, called to her from an open window, and showed her a puppy. He then asked to see her two puppies, but the girl reportedly laughed and told him, no, reports WBIR.According to the New York Daily News, the boy then took his father’s 12-gauge shotgun from an unlocked closet, and shot her from inside his home. Dyer was hit in the chest and taken to the hospital, but later died there. The 11-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder and is now in custody. His identity has not been disclosed to the public, reports WKRN.
