    One of the world's longest over-water bridges is finally nearing completion after nearly a decade of construction. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge is set to connect Hong Kong with Macau and Zhuhai, three major cities on the Pearl River Delta in China. The crossing consists of three cable-stayed bridges and one undersea tunnel. The construction formally began in 2009 and is due to be completed in December 2017, opening to traffic in 2018. Over 400,000 tons of steel was used to buid the project, about 60 times the amount used to build the Eiffel Tower.

  • First Direct Italian Cargo Train to China Departs from Mortara

    A new cargo train will connect Italy and China directly, and the first service departed from the northern Italian city of Mortara on Tuesday, bound for China's Chengdu. The 11,000-killometer, or 6,800 mile, route stretches across the territories of Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan before crossing all of Western China to arrive in Chengdu. The trip takes around 18 days, almost 20 days less than shipping the cargo by sea. The train consists of 17 coaches and 34 containers which can carry equipment, electronics, furniture, and cars.

    The worlds biggest indoor ski resort opened it's doors to lovers of downhill winter sports last weekend in Harbin, China's 'Ice City' located on the border with Russia. The Harbin Wanda Indoor Ski and Winter Resort covers an area of over 860,000 square feet and boasts six different runs, with the longest stretching 1640 feet, the fourth longest in the world. Up to 3000 people can enjoy the facilities at any one time. Wang Jianlin, who is China's wealthist businessman, invested 40 billion yuan, or just under 6 billion dollars, to build the facility.
