The US Senate votes in favor of a stopgap funding bill, in a rare show of cross-party unity to keep federal agencies running into 2022 and avert a costly holiday season government shutdown. With the clock ticking down to the 11:59 pm Friday deadline, the Senate votes by 69 to 28 to keep the lights on until February 18 with a resolution that had already advanced from the House of Representatives. "We are calling on President Trump to demand that all protestors leave the U.S. Capitol and Capitol Grounds immediately," Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement. Thousands of pro-Trump supporters gathered in DC on Wednesday to attend a "March for Trump" rally to support the president's baseless claims that he won the election.
