Surtout, ces vidéos ont mené à l’arrestation de 32 personnes par des forces de l’ordre, de « possibles émeutiers » selon le média. Les émeutes ont éclaté après le meurtre par un policier du jeune Nahel M. à Nanterre en juin, alors qu’il essayait d’échapper à un contrôle routier. Sa mort a déclenché une importante vague d’émeutes dans tout le pays entre juin et juillet, dont des images ont été diffusées en direct sur les réseaux sociaux.
