Hong Kong, Mar 30 (EFE/EPA).- Hong Kong legislative polls will be held in December under a controversial electoral reform that China approved Tuesday to tighten its control on the autonomous city.Legislative Council President Andrew Leung told reporters that incumbent lawmakers would stay on in the council until the new elections took place.The elections were to be held in September 2020, but officials delayed the plan in July last year, citing the pandemic. Hong Kong, Mar 22 (EFE/EPA).- Eight of the 10 young Hongkongers jailed in mainland China last year after attempting to flee to Taiwan by speedboat were expected to be returned home on Monday after completing their prison terms, state broadcaster RTHK reported.Seven were expected to be handed back to the Hong Kong police in batches before 5 pm (09:00 GMT) Monday. Hong Kong, Feb 9 (EFE/EPA).- Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai, accused of colluding with foreign forces, will remain in prison after the city's top court on Tuesday upheld an appeal by the government against his release on bail in December.Lai can appeal the ruling by the Court of Final Appeal.The court said the judge, who granted Lai bail in December, "misconstrued" a clause of the national security legislation, public broadcaster RTHK reported.
