Austria has elected the former leader of the Greens party to be its next president, narrowly avoiding becoming the first country in the European Union to vote in a far-right candidate as head of state.
For the first time, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has appeared to accept President-elect Joe Biden's win over President Donald Trump. According to Business Insider, McConnell had previously held off on acknowledging Biden's win, insisting that Trump had a right to fight the outcome in court. Zambia's opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema was on Monday declared winner of a hotly contested presidential election after capturing more than 2.8 million votes. The state has voted for a Republican president in every election since 1996. Georgia is home to multiple competitive races in both the House and Senate. The Senate delegation from Georgia, along with the state's legislature and governor, is firmly Republican. Georgia's delegation in the House is split: eight Republicans and four Democratic members.
