Macy's department stores will be closing 45 stores across the U.S. The retail giant said the closures are part of a plan to close one-fifth of their stores by 2023. According to Business Insider, Macy's also announced that it would cut 2,000 corporate jobs. Liquidation sales have already begun at some locations, while others will begin by the end of the month. Macy's said they will release a list of locations on Wednesday that will be closing this year.
Cyber Monday is on November 30 this year. Due to the pandemic, many retailers aren't just doing in-store deals for Black Friday. Macy's, which is struggling amid pandemic shutdowns, is expected to offer Cyber Monday deals on accessories, clothing, home goods, and more. Macy's is making it extra easy for shoppers to get their purchases quickly. The company is going out of it's way to attract customers, offering curbside and in-store pickup, as well as same-day and next-day delivery.
Black Friday begins November 27. Mega-retailer Macy's starts rolling out its deals ahead of time, on November 24. Some deals begin the week before Thanksgiving, on November 16. Business Insider reports that shoppers can use a code BLKFRI to get an extra 20% off some items. Macy's hopes its deals on clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, kitchenware, and home goods will boost it's business, which has been ravaged by COVID-19.
