    New York resident Rachel Palma this past fall got some wonderful news--for her. Palma had complained of worsening symptoms of insomnia, forgetfulness, and hallucinations--and feared she was developing a brain tumor. Fortunately, Gizmodo reports that wasn't the case at all. But the true source of the woman's problems can be definitely filed under "ick!" Doctors initially diagnosed Palma with brain cancer, after spotting a lesion on her MRI scan. But when they performed surgery on her last September to remove the supposed tumor, they instead found a ball-shaped mucus-colored cyst. And once they cracked open the cyst, they found a pork tapeworm larva. And while up to 10 percent of people hospitalized for the rare condition die, after the doctors removed the tapeworm, her symptoms largely disappeared.
