Uber has announced it is building an Advanced Technology Center in Paris, France as work continues on plans for its Uber Elevate flying taxi service.
These futuristic hydrofoil water taxis may soon ferry passengers to destinations up and down the Seine, the iconic river winding through Paris. The solar-powered aquatic shuttles, called Sea Bubbles, are designed to hold four passengers and a driver, and will be summoned with a mobile app, basically like Uber for rivers. Sea Bubbles were unveiled to the public at the 2017 VivaTechnology expo in Paris on Thursday.
Trial resumes for Benoit Feuillu and four other alleged organisers of two banned demonstrations in western rural France. The activists argue they fight to preserve water and are opposing large artificials reservoirs or "bassines" which they see as a way to monopolise water resources for the farming industry. in October 2022 and specially, in March 2023, the protests turned into violent clashes with police with many protesters injured. Nicolas Sarkozy is back at Paris Court House this Friday to answer questions in his appeal trial about illegal campaign financing during his 2012 failed re-election bid. The Former head of state was sentenced to one year's imprisonment in 2021 in what has been dubbed the "Bygmalion case". Conservative Sarkozy has faced a litany of legal problems since his one term in office from 2007 until 2012, and has been charged separately with corruption, bribery, influence-peddling, and breaking campaign financing laws.
